FAQ
Q. What is a design licence and how do they work?

A. A licence is simply the permission a designer gives to another person/company to use their creations and to define the boundaries of how they may be used. These terms are negociated by all parties involved before the design is commissioned or licensed.

Sophie offers exclusive worldwide licence agreements where you or your company will be the only entity with the right to reproduce the licenced design for the specified time period (usually 4 years). Sophie owns the copyright to the designs/artwork, you or your company have the permission to use the designs/artwork as surface design to your products and sell as part of your business.

Once the licence agreement terms are decided upon, the agreement is signed by all parties and the licence has been paid for, Sophie will provide you with the digital artwork files via a private dropbox link.

Q. Are the designs in repeat?

A. Yes, seamless repeat (unless of course, it’s a placement design). Sophie often works to rotary repeat dimesions; 32 cm x 32 cm and 64 cm x 64 cm. All designs are production-ready; in repeat with high-resolution digital artwork on colour separated layers.

Q. What if I need changes made to the design?

A. Alterations (e.g. colour or scale change) can be done at an additional fee.

Q. What if I need help with production of design?

A. Sophie is happy to supply a specification document detailing the designs application to your product or project at an additional fee. If the design artwork requires adjustments in order to translate to different production and manufacture methods (e.g. knit or Jacqaurd), this can also be done at an addition fee.

Q. Do you create custom designs or take commisions?

A. She sure does, Sophie is more than happy to create new designs just for you, get in touch.
